SHAHID

Director Narges Shahid Kalhor no longer wants to bear the surname "Shahid" (martyr) and directs an actress as herself, tasked with changing the family name. It is precisely then that her eccentric great-grandfather appears. A man who, after his heroic death a century ago in Iran, was declared a martyr and bestowed the honorific "Shahid" upon his descendants. He tries to dissuade his great-granddaughter from her plan. Shahid is a political drama and, at the same time, a desperate comedy. It deals with historical heroes, contemporary criminals, and how modern women cope with them. A story by and about migrants in Germany and from afar. A personal film that doesn't always take itself too seriously.
