Film description
Hinterdupfing – as the name suggests, there's nothing going on in this village. Every day is the same, the community is lagging far behind. A few people still trade in Deutsche Marks, cars aren't needed, and you won't even find a smartphone here. Unintentionally stranded tourists turn the heads of the village youth. They head off to the city and experience the world, which they immediately want to bring back to their hometown of Hinterdupfing. Therefore, they lure more tourists, using more or less unscrupulous methods, to improve the village's situation. The plan works; strangers come and go, and the money flows. But can the small community handle this influx of tourists?
When Minister-President Reitmayer makes an ill-advised statement about Bavaria's potential withdrawal from the federal government, he comes under fire from the press and subsequently goes into hiding. Searching for their father, Reitmayer's children, Kathi and Martl, embark on a road trip that brings them closer to the Bavarian and Franconian mentalities and their disparities, while also prompting them to reconsider their relationship with their father. He believes he has found his freedom in an unexpected place, but to restore balance within his family and among the people, Reitmayer must return to the public eye, as the idea of sovereignty is also making headlines among the population.
When Sepp watches his grandson playing with a Prussian boy, he is immediately reminded of his own childhood, a time filled with hatred for the "other people." Bavarians and Prussians have nothing in common, he is certain. They merely live in the same country. A rivalry that begins as play between Bavarian farm children and Prussian newcomers gradually develops into a hatred that cannot end well. Even a romantic relationship cannot unite the two sides, but only divides them further. A enmity rooted in tradition is inevitable.
The municipalities of Greisendorf and Neubrunn are vying for the grave of former silent film star Gaby Gruber. But at 114 years old, Germany's oldest woman is far from thinking about death. When Greisendorf's undertaker suddenly dies, a gardener and a garbage collector are promptly appointed as the new undertakers.
Please Note: Our latest Bavarian comedy, WHO BURIES THE UNDERTAKER?, is unfortunately not available through our online shop, but you can find the DVD / BluRay and VoD on/in the usual platforms and markets.
