When Minister-President Reitmayer makes an ill-advised statement about Bavaria's potential withdrawal from the federal government, he comes under fire from the press and subsequently goes into hiding. Searching for their father, Reitmayer's children, Kathi and Martl, embark on a road trip that brings them closer to the Bavarian and Franconian mentalities and their disparities, while also prompting them to reconsider their relationship with their father. He believes he has found his freedom in an unexpected place, but to restore balance within his family and among the people, Reitmayer must return to the public eye, as the idea of sovereignty is also making headlines among the population.
